Artist's Statement regarding “We Are All Refugees"

Butterflies are nature's immigrants. Though fragile, monarch butterflies, make the arduous journey from Mexico all the way up as far as Canada, and their offspring return, every year.
I see similar patterns in stained glass windows,  butterfly wings and the tattoos of waves left on shorelines.
Symbolically, butterflies represent transformation and rebirth. But can they survive man? Even monuments like Notre Dame cathedral may not last forever. Butterflies may disappear due to climate change, pesticides, or walls threatening to destroy their preserves.
